tk1sc Completes First Riverside County LEED Platinum Building!

Posted on 2015-08-04

Working with Trammell Crow Company and Langdon Wilson International, tk1sc is proud to announce the County Law Building in Indio as the first County of Riverside facility to receive the Platinum-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®), the U.S. Green Building Council's highest level of certification.

The three-story, 90,000 square-foot facility provides offices for the district attorney, public defender, county counsel and the Indio branch of the Riverside County Law Library.

tk1sc performed full mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, low voltage, audio/visual, and lighting design services, as well as complete commissioning to meet the California Green Building Code (CALGreen) and LEED requirements.  Additionally, post building occupancy Measurement and Verification services are currently being performed by our commissioning team.

Solar panels on carports will provide 325-kW worth of energy.  Lighting control systems include a combination of occupancy sensors and automatic daylight dimming controls, as well as individual task lighting and low wattage LED luminaires.  High-efficiency plumbing fixtures as well as drought tolerant landscaping and drip irrigation will reduce water use.  The public can also view an interactive real-time LED display in the lobby to learn about the building's energy consumption and other sustainable design practices, facilitated through the mechanical building management system.

Commissioned systems include:

  • HVAC - Air Handling Units (DX), Boilers/Pumps, Fans (Exhaust), Split System (Ducted and Ductless), VAV Terminal Units
  • Building Automation System
  • Electrical – Interior and Exterior Lighting, Lighting Controls, Occupancy Sensors, Automatic Daylight Dimming
  • Photovoltaic System
  • Plumbing – Water Heaters (Electric Storage) with Circulation Pump
  • Landscape Irrigation

Dedication of the County Law Building took place in February of 2015, approximately 4 months ahead of schedule.
