The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) has bestowed a national award of merit on The Riverside County Law Building. The project also received the Energy and Environmental Design Award of Merit from the Orange County Chapter of the IES.
The County Law Building in Indio is the first County of Riverside facility to receive the Platinum-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®), the U.S. Green Building Council's highest level of certification. The three-story, 90,000 square-foot facility provides offices for the District Attorney, Public Defender, County Counsel and the Indio branch of the Riverside County Law Library.
tk1sc performed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, low voltage, audio/visual, and, with StudioK1, lighting design services. tk1sc also provided commissioning to meet the California Green Building Code (CALGreen) and LEED requirements. Additional post building occupancy Measurement and Verification services are currently being performed by our commissioning team.
Sustainable features include:
- 325kW of Solar panels on parking shade structures
- Lighting control systems including a combination of occupancy sensors and automatic daylight dimming controls, as well as
individual task lighting and low wattage LED luminaires. - High-efficiency plumbing fixtures as well as drought tolerant landscaping and drip irrigation will reduce water use.
- Interactive real-time LED display in the lobby to learn about the building's energy consumption and other sustainable design practices
Dedication of the County Law Building took place in February of 2015, approximately 4 months ahead of schedule.
