Bay Area industry leader and award-winning engineer William R. Brown, PE joins tk1sc as a principal and the leader of our Bay Area office. Well-known for his thought leadership in mechanical engineering, sustainable design, and net zero building projects, Bill will focus on the growth and development of our Northern California practice – forging successful client relationships, mentoring staff, and creating new partnerships for our firm.
A northern California native, Bill joins tk1sc leveraging his 40 years in the business. “What strikes me about tk1sc is how we embrace the future of consulting engineering,” says Bill. “From a fully-integrated design-to-construction process, to environmental leadership, to the innovative o|n|e approach, it’s a thrill to be part of this vision and know that I’ve joined a talented team.”
Bill brings a depth and breadth of engineering expertise in higher education, science and technology, central energy plants, and sustainability to tk1sc. “What caught our attention about Bill is his ability to connect engineering with owners and architects looking at the whole building,” says CEO Roger Carter, PE, LEED AP, CxA. We’ve found a true collaborator and mentor in Bill and are thrilled to have him on board.”

Since 2013, when we opened our Bay Area office, our talented team has provided services for notable projects that include the new Broadcom campus, the Santa Clara Technology Center, Horner Middle School in Fremont, UC Santa Cruz’s Extension Campus, and several major projects for the Irvine Company, including the Irvine Company Apartment Communities.

About tk1sc:
tk1sc is an engineering consulting firm. Working with our industry partners, we design mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, low voltage, and security systems. As stewards of the environment, we work diligently to find ways that conserve and/or produce energy and water, always striving for the perfect shade of green. We find ways to blend life safety and fire codes into the architecture without compromising design. Our architectural lighting designers light buildings to create the experience and mood of a space.
Whether a building is in design, construction, or is operational, we’ll commission it to optimize its performance and make sure everything is working as planned, if not better. And, if a building needs to operate better, we can retro-commission it to find ways to enhance its performance with an eye towards reducing energy consumption and the carbon footprint
